Cleobury Mortimer 44 pts Warley 0 pts
FORMER Dudley Kingswinford flanker Tom Leach can fire Cleobury Mortimer to an historic win at local rivals Bishops Castle, says skipper Allan Shields.
Open-side flanker Leach was in top form as second-placed Cleobury swept aside Warley 44-0 last weekend in Midlands Four West (North).
“As far as I am aware, Cleobury have never won away at Bishops Castle, so we hope to change that this Saturday,” said Shields.
“Tom Leach was our man of the match last weekend.
“He’s been away for a few years but has brought some excellent ideas into the side.
“He was involved at Worcester’s Academy and played at Dudley Kingswinford.
“He has come to play with his brother and he’s enjoying it.”
Dan Bird, Ed Lewis, Sam Sutton, Tom Leach, Dave Leach and skipper Shields all crossed against Warley. Shields also slotted two penalties and four conversions.
Shields added: “We are not desperate to go up but if we are to go up, then that’s fine. We have a good team spirit and there’s no bickering.”
Ludlow recorded a 24-17 home win over Tamworth at The Linney in Midlands Two West (North) last weekend. The Linneymen travel to Wolverhampton this Saturday.
