DARTS player Jim Williams has crashed out of the BDO World Professional Championships at the first hurdle.
The former Wigmore School pupil suffered a 3-0 defeat against the experienced Dave Prins on his debut at The Lakeside on Tuesday night.
Williams’ match was screened live on the BBC red button and he struggled to contain his nerves at the famous sporting venue.
Williams, who is listed 16th in the BDO rankings, won his first leg at the eighth time of asking against a confident Prins.
The Welshman averaged 78.61 with three darts while his Hartlepool rival clocked up 86.56.
Williams, who lives in Presteigne, will be turning his attention to the new World Trophy in Blackpool next month.
