Pete Stevens says Tenbury Rugby Club expect a war of attrition at Clee Hill

Tenbury are fighting to avoid relegation but Stevens says his team are ‘not frightened of anything’ that high-flying Hill can offer.

Tenbury were thrashed 42-10 by Hill at Palmer's Meadow in their second Midlands Four West (North) match of the campaign.

“We will have to be at our best and, hopefully, Clee Hill will be at their worst,” said Stevens.

“I know at least three quarters of the Clee Hill side and we are not frightened of anything they have to offer.

“I am sure Clee Hill are not scared of anything we can offer. Clee Hill are a very good side and are playing well.”

Flanker Chuck Parry should be available for this weekend’s derby, after struggling through Tenbury’s defeat against Bromyard.

Parry has landed a job as a personal trainer on a cruise ship and back in the area for for the Christmas and new year period.

Parry starred last term, winning the player-of-the-year and the captain’s player-of-year accolades as Tenbury finished fourth in the table.

Stevens said: “Chuck has not played against rugby at all on his time on the ship.

“He was struggling a bit against Bromyard and asked me about six times to come off. I just told him to shut up and he carried on.”

Hill are second in the table after eight wins from 10 matches.

Tenbury are second bottom in the table after three wins and seven defeats.

In autumn’s derby, Hill dominated the forwards as they romped to their biggest-ever win at Palmer’s Meadow.

Ben King’s penalty put Tenbury 3-0 ahead but tries from Richard Wozencroft, Adam Yarnold, Charlie Evans and Craig Breakwell gave Hill control.

After the interval, Breakwell and Evans each bagged their second tries and Robbie Jordan also crossed in Hill’s crushing victory.

Wozencroft slotted a penalty and two conversions, while Sam Thomas scored Tenbury’s try and King added a conversion.

Stevens added: “Clee Hill were mediocre last season but Richard Wozencroft ha s made their backs click.”
