GIANT-KILLERS AFC Ludlow are targeting another TJ Vickers Shropshire Premier Cup shock tonight against West Midlands Premier League side Ellesmere Rangers, insists boss Dave Cooper, WRITES LEWIS DEAKIN.

Ludlow captain Jamie Marsh stunned Evo-Stik North Division One South side Market Drayton Town by scoring the winner in the previous round.

The West Midlands League Division Two boss believes all the pressure will be on AFC Ludlow’s higher ranked opponents.

Cooper said: “The pressure is all on Ellesmere and not on us. They are expected to come to Ludlow tonight and knock us out.

“But if we can match what we did against Market Drayton - we will be alright. It is a cup match and anything can happen.

“Hopefully, we can get a good turn-out tonight. We have had some nice comments off people, who have come to the Showtime Stadium and seen us play.

“As a club we can look back this year at beating Drayton. If we played them again 10 times - we would likely lose 10 times.”

AFC Ludlow will be boosted by the return of both Rob Boyd and Luke Hicks.

Cooper said: “Luke played on Saturday in our 3-0 defeat against Newport Town. He is versatile and Luke can play anywhere in the team. Rob Boyd should also be back tomorrow night against Ellesmere.”

The gaffer has urged his boys to put their defeat against Town behind them.

He said: “The players need to forget about the Newport match. We win and lose as a team. They were just better than us on the day.

"I was disappointed to lose that game. But I’m not making excuses. We gave Town the first two-goals. It was two schoolboy errors. The players responsible knew that and held their hands up. We lost Rob Vass after 10-15 minutes. He did his hamstring after starting the game well.”

In 2014, AFC Ludlow will welcome pace-setters Wolverhampton Sporting Community Reserves and Team Dudley to the Showtime Stadium.

Tonight's Showtime Stadium match kicks off at 7:45pm. Admission is £3 for adults and £1 for children.
