LUDLOW Hockey Club are now fourth in West Midlands League Division One after a 5-0 battering of struggling Kingswinford.

Sam Pratt scored the opener, after Ludlow’s forwards moved the ball around the face of the goal, and it gave the visitors a splendid platform.

Andrew Richards bagged the second goal as Ludlow led 2-0 at the break.

James Pratt scored Ludlow’s third goal and Alan Edwards was able to deflect in another Ludlow shot for the fourth.

Ludlow’s short corner goal drought was finally ended by Graham Hutchinson after he linked up seamlessly with Vijay Chumber to smash home the fifth and final goal of the game.

Ludlow 2nd battled hard and led twice before settling for a point from a 2-2 home draw against third-placed Wednesbury in the West Midlands League.

Ludlow fielded a full-strength side for the first time in several games and superb short-corner switch from birthday boy Jake Watts was finished at the far post by Steve Barnes.

Wednesbury broke away to round a reduced defence to slot away the equaliser.

And Henry Downes kept the Ludlow goal safe with all four defenders regularly called into action, including a brilliant save off the goal line by Josh Rowson .

The ever-improving Andy Davenport-Smith placed the Joe Haywood cross accurately bottom left of the ‘keeper to make it 2-1.

Captain Graeme Wilcox had an inspiring half with superb tackling and ball movement while Malachi Davenport-Smith and Barnes impressed on opposite flanks.

Wednesbury averted further damage and finally to mount the comeback their tenacity deserved as they finally broke the Ludlow defences slamming away an equaliser.

Ludlow 3rd could not field a recognised goalkeeper and lost 3-0 against Wolverhampton. Captain Tyler Davis playing centre half was an inspiration for his team controlling midfield and driving his team on. Kevin Boulton read the game well from his sweeper role as stand-in keeper.

Rene Johnson hit a late leveller as Tenbury Ladies Hockey Club secured a 1-1 draw against Stourport 3rd in a Worcestershire Hockey League Division One derby.

Tenbury dominated possession and created several opportunities in the early stages

Jonhson hit the post and the bar in the early stages.

Emily Moseley, Lindsey Aldridge-Bufton and Jenni Schenke all came close to putting Tenbury ahead but were denied by several excellent saves from the Stourport keeper.

Stourport took the lead midway through the first half after a strong drive from midfield.

Stourport were quick on the counter attack but strong defending from Jo Turvey, Terri Mumford, Emma Reddock and Alice George prevented them from increasing their lead.

Tenbury were eventually rewarded for their efforts with 10 minutes remaining when Johnson fired home from a narrow angle.
