TARA Rodenhurst and playing partner Dave Fish have lifted Ludlow Golf Club’s Ron Jones Salver for the fourth successive year.

Rodenhurst, the junior captain, and Fish won the foursomes stableford by three points after notching up 36 points in difficult conditions.

The pair received the trophy at the prestigious club prize-giving awards dinner, the evening before Rodenhurst hosted the club’s inaugural junior Captain’s Day.

The duo, who played off 7 and 3 respectively, had started the competition as joint favourites alongside the in-form pairing of Pat and John Bown.

The Bowns also lived up to their billing, taking the runners-up spot, in a large field of competitors, after a solid return of 33 points.

The Ron Jones Salver has been played for since 1984 as a mixed foursomes medal, but the format was altered this year.

JOSH Rowbotham continued his excellent spell of form when glorious sunshine greeted the players for the weekend stableford roll up at Cleobury.

Rowbotham shot 39 points to take the spoils and once again had his handicap reduced.

With low temperatures and sunshine it was winter golf at its best and the impressive Paul Bowers, who has also been enjoying a fine spell of form, shot a round of 38 points to take runners-up spot and also had his handicap reduced.

Richard Wright shot 37 points to secure third place.

"Josh has had his PING Golf clubs fitted by head professional Rob Watkins and has seen extra distance and accuracy because of this," said the Cleobury club spokesman Dave Pain.

"It goes to show the massive benefits that are there to be had by getting the right clubs for you."
