TWO goals from Danny Gower could not stop Woofferton from paying the penalty against Tenbury United at Palmer’s Meadow.
Aaron Morris scored twice from the penaltyspot, while Dale Withers and George Pearson also netted for Tenbury, the Herefordshire League Division One leaders.
Woofferton playersecretary Dave ‘Magnum’ Thomas said: “Tenbury had won their previous five league games and our lads felt a draw would have been a fair result.
“Penalties were awarded after Jack Pound had handled on the line and Chris Martin blocked a player off the ball.”
United player-manager Aaron Morris said Simon Bradley’s shot which struck the crossbar was a pivotal moment in the derby.
“When we were 2-1 up Simon Bradley hit the bar and we went straight up the other end and scored to make it 3-1.
“I think Woofferton are a decent side and have got some very good players.”
Steve Chadd’s Woofferton host Division Two high-fliers Bromyard FC in the second round of the HFA Junior Cup this Saturday. Thomas added: “We’ve now conceded three penalties in just two games and we have got to be more careful.”
