BISHOPS Castle manager Andrew Green is confident his team can sustain their sparkling form when they travel to Clee Hill United in Mercian League Division One this Saturday.
Castle go into the derby on the back of a thumping 6-0 win against Rock Rovers last weekend and have scored an astonishing 25 goals in their last three home games.
But Green knows that Saturday’s game against Wayne Whitbread’s Clee Hill will be a much tougher test.
Clee Hill are also in excellent form and held top-of-thetable FC Oswestry Town 1-1 at the weekend.
Stand-in goalkeeper Scott Jordan was Hill’s hero, making a brilliant penalty save.
Green said: “They are going to be up for it, and when you see that there’s only a couple of places between the two sides in the league table, it should be an interesting game.”
Castle lost 9-0 against Rock Rovers in the final game of last season, but Green’s boys made sure that the same fate was not going to happen this time.
Gaz Bromley grabbed a hattrick, with two goals from Luke Mellor and one from Lee Davies adding to the rout.
Meanwhile, Whitbread said his team is starting to make giant strides in the league and believes they have the capabilities of getting a positive result against Bishops Castle.
“The quality of our play has been excellent recently and I’m really pleased with how it’s going,” said Whitbread.
“We started to show at the end of last season that we could make giant strides in this league if we kicked on and, so far, the standard of our performances has been really good.”
Jordan was the star man in Clee Hill’s draw at FC Oswestry with his penalty save, while Adam War ren claimed the goal that puts Hill fifth in the table.
