CHURCH Stretton joint-manager Joe Leask blamed defensive errors as his team lost their first home game of the season.
Leask’s side have had to contend with a lengthy injury list this season and currently sit 11th in Mercian League Premier Division.
And they face another tough test this Saturday when they host high-flying Oakengates Athletic.
“We felt that it was a winnable game against Madeley, but we didn’t defend well and that cost us the goals,” said Leask.
“We have got Oakengates this Saturday, which will be tough, but we will be hoping to bounce back.
“Our joint-manager Adam Spellman has missed some games and we do miss him in defence.
“We have had so many injuries and have never been able to pick the same 11 for any two games.”
Stretton found themselves 1-0 behind at the half-time break against Madeley, but levelled through a Paul Smith penalty.
Ben Jones then fired in an effort to put Leak’s team ahead, but three defensive errors by Stretton saw the away team storm into a 4-2 lead.
A Matt Rains thunderbolt did reduce the arrears, but Stretton could not find that elusive goal to level the game.
