Local derby rivalry this weekend between Brimfield and Woofferton in Herefordshire League Division One
BRIMFIELD and Woofferton will be going head-to-head in their first-ever competitive football derby tomorrow
Brimfield were known as Woofferton Colts last season but had to change their identity to gain promotion to Herefordshire League Division One.
“Both sides are looking forward to the game and it should be a cracker,” said Brimfield boss Duncan Morris. “Woofferton have more Division One experience than us and are playing well at the moment so I will be expecting a solid performance from my men.
“Both managers know their opponents well so it will be a tough game and tactical decisions could be the winning formula.”
The chief executive of the Herefordshire Football Association, Jim Lambert, will be refereeing the match, which kicks off at 2.30pm.
Woofferton player-secretary Dave Thomas said: “There’s going to be an edge to the game because it’s the first competitive match between the two teams.”
Brimfield FC secured fourth spot in Herefordshire League Division One last weekend after an impressive 4-1 win against Kingstone Rovers. Tom Worrallo had a superb afternoon for Brimfield, scoring with a 30- yard wonder-strike. Josh Hughes opened the scoring and Tom Everall added a second before the break.
Everall’s pass to cousin Worrallo set up Brimfield’s third goal and James Byatt rounded off the scoring after a through-ball from captain Craig Morris.
