BRIMFIELD bowls ace Ashley Edwards has won the Herefordshire Champion of Champions trophy.
Edwards defeated Ross-on-Wye’s Paul Rainthorpe 21-17 in a hard-fought contest at Weobley.
Edwards had booked his place in the final after overcoming Leominster’s John Harris 21-18 over 26 ends in a last-four battle.
In the final, Rainthorpe took an early lead, winning 11 of the first 17 ends to open up a 17-13 advantage.
But Edwards responded to seal the last three ends.
Fourteen of the 17 county clubs took part in the competition.
Edwards’ path to success: Final: Edwards beat Rainthorpe 21–17; Semifinal: Edwards beat J Harris 21–18; Quarter-final: Edwards beat P Powell (Eardisland) 21-2.
