Church Stretton Cricket Club's Martin Nichols hits 110 in five-wicket defeat against Harcourt in Shropshire County League Division Three
CHURCH Stretton’s Martin Nichols struck 110 but his side suffered a surprise five-wicket home defeat against Harcourt in Shropshire County League Division Three.
Nichols’ knock led Stretton to 195-5 declared but the bottom-side hit back to seal a rare success in the 28th over.
Ed Riley’s all-round display helped Corvedale to an exciting two-wicket home win over Grove in a low-scoring match in Division Two.
Riley bagged 4-25 to skittle out Grove for 124 and then top-scored with 39 as Corvedale squeezed to the target in the 32nd over.
Excellent unbeaten half-centuries from Andrew Lewis (59 not out) and Edgar Whately (57no) guided Bishop’s Castle to an eight-wicket success at Iscoyd and Fenns Bank, also in Division Two.
Ludlow remain on course for the Premier Division runners-up spot after a nine-wicket demolition of visiting Allscott.
Jason Van Loggrenberg (3-18), Chris Ammonds (3-23) and Andrew Hillman (2-27) combined to rush out Allscott for just 105.
Van Loggrenberg cracked 44 from just 37 balls before Ian Simmons (40no) steered Ludlow to their target in only the 16th over.
Ludlow are six points ahead of thirdplaced St Georges and host Albrighton in their final match this Saturday.
Glen Whittaker (54no) and Richard Griffiths (45) starred for Ludlow 2nd in a seven-wicket home win over Lilleshall 2nd in Reserve Division One.
Steve Small (82) and Finlay Clarke (4-20) shone in Ludlow 3rd’s emphatic 120-run home success victory over Trysull and Seisdon in Division Four.
There was disappointment for Tenbury 2nd, who crashed to a nine-wicket defeat at Stourbridge Social in 2nd XI Division Two of the Worcestershire League.
