DRIVER Scott Moran can clinch his fourth MSA British Hill Climb Championship title in Scotland on Sunday.

Championship leader Moran says he needs a second-place finish at Doune to regain the title - but insists there’s still a lot of work to do.

The Orleton ace endured disappointment at Doune in June.

Scott secured a second place but his vehicle suffered a mechanical problem.

“I think I only need to secure a second place to win the title but it’s not done yet,” insisted Scott, who lost the crown last year to Trevor Willis.

“It’s still all to play for and I have to get to the top of the hill at least once. Doune is a difficult course - it’s very fast and narrow.

“We went to Scotland in June and we didn’t have a great time so I am not counting my chickens.

With a bit of luck it could all be tied up before we head to Loton Park for the final round.”

The weekend’s event at Doune, near Glasgow, is the penultimate round of the series.

The final round takes place at Loton Park on September 30.

Earlier this year, Scott became the most successful driver in British Hill Climb history.

He won both run-offs at Harewood in July to eclipse the then all-time record of 104 by Martin Groves.

Scott said: “It has been a very competitive season but next year is going to be demanding.

“There have been four cars competing for the top places but next year there could be six or more in with a chance of the championship.

“It’s all good for the sport - and good for the drivers, too.

“The drivers all want the competition and the sport also needs it.”
