Tenbury Cricket Club pick batting order out of hat for Worcestershire County League Division Two match against Rushwick
TENBURY Cricket Club drew their batting order out of a hat - but the strugglers’ poor season continued in Worcestershire County League Division Two.
Skipper Aaron Morris hit 50, Tom Pugh, 28 not out, and Ben Thompson, 25, as eight-man Tenbury were dismissed for 145 in a nine-wicket loss at Rushwick.
Rushwick threw the bat and reached the target in the 17th over.
“We had a 13-year-old lad in the side who we put to bat at eight but the rest of us drew numbers out of a hat,” explained Morris.
“It was just a bit of fun and we did well to reach the total after losing three early wickets.”
Sam Evans had a superb game for Cleobury Mortimer 2nd in a 72-run win at Hallow 2nd in 2nd XI Division Five.
Evans top-scored with 50 in Cleobury’s 200 and then took 4-27 to dismiss Hallow for 128. Kieran Hall also shone, bagging 5-33.
Ludlow all-rounder Jason Van Logg renberg blasted a superb century but they were thwarted by the rain in their Shropshire County League Premier Division clash at Wem.
Loggrenberg cracked 10 fours and three sixes in his 101 from just 83 balls which lifted Ludlow to 239- 6 from 46 overs.
Ryan Lockley (67) also weighed in for Ludlow, who reduced Wem to 0-2 from 1.4 overs when heavy rain washed out the match.
Corvedale were dismissed for 105 but then bowled superbly to enjoy a winning draw at Willey in Division Two.
Ed Riley (35) and Ross Mantle (34) led the way for Corvedale, who limited Willey to 85-8 from 35 overs.
Sher Zahid (3-3) and Russell Wilcox (2-8) took the bowling plaudits for Corvedale.
Church Stretton gave a solid all-round display in a hard-fought draw at Shrewsbury 3rd in Division Three.
In reply to Shrewsbury’s 207-7, Martin Nichols (57), Jon Wood (38no) and Saif Khalid (36) steered Stretton to 177-6 from their 30 overs.
Corvedale 2nd sealed a five-wicket home victory over Whitchurch 3rd in Division Six. In reply to 93- 6, Andrew Mawdsley (28) and Craig Massey (26) led Corvedale home.
Will Armitage bagged 3-38 and Simon Miles struck an undefeated 48 in Ludlow 4th’s exciting six-wicket success against Bomere Heath 2nd in 2nd XI Division Three.
Tim Goldthorp struck an unbeaten 62 for Ludlow 2nd in a seven-wicket home win over Wem 2nd in 2nd XI Division One.
Bishops Castle 2nd trio Paul Cottrell (3-9), Peter Griffiths (2-4) and George Rayment (2-9) helped dismiss Acton Reynald for 78 for an eight-wicket win.
Matt Per ry 38no) led Castle to the target.
