Herefordshire League Division One outfit Brimfield FC win annual Tim Ezard Perpetual Cup at Woofferton
NEWLY-formed Herefordshire League Division One outfit Brimfield FC have won the annual Tim Ezard Perpetual Cup.
Brimfield, who were known as Woofferton Colts last term, edged past the Roebuck 2-1 in the first game and then defeated Orleton 4-0 in the final.
Jake Collett bagged a brace, while James and Charlie Byatt also netted as Brimfield hit four second-half goals to seal the trophy.
“These were the first games the team have played since May,” said jubilant Brimfield boss Duncan Morris.
“I travelled back from holiday early in the morning and only just made it to the games. The journey was long but worthwhile.”
Morris was delighted with the display - he is looking to fill the gap to fill left by the influential Dan Hicks, who has moved abroad.
Previously, Charlie Byatt and Dean Harding scored for Brimfield, who fought back from 1-0 down to defeat the Roebuck in their first game.
Roebuck claimed third place in the tournament after beating hosts Woofferton, who also lost to Orleton.
Brimfield’s first league game of the season is on Saturday, August 31, and Morris says he is looking for a sponsor for the club.
