Bishops Castle Town boss Andrew Green will be picking Lee Davies’ footballing brain in Mercian League Division One
BISHOPS Castle Town manager Andrew Green says he will be picking Lee Davies’ footballing brain in the Mercian League Division One this season.
Davies, who has played for Welshpool and Newtown, is the new joint-manager with Green.
Green said: “Lee has been involved in the club for a while and has decided to step up. He’s played in Europe and will be a big help for me.
He will also be playing in midfield.”
Castle recorded a 3-1 win at Hopesgate United in their last outing with two spot-kicks from Mark Griffiths and a Gaz Bromley free-kick.
“We were supposed to be playing last Saturday, but we have had to re-arrange the game because we had a lot of lads at the VFestival,”
“We have injuries to me, Matt Jones and Alex Jones at the moment - so it has been a brilliant start for us.” Castle host Oakengate Rangers this Saturday.
Wayne Whitbread’s Clee Hill United have picked up four points from two Division One matches.
Former Bewdley Town player Ollie Smith scored a late equaliser for United, who missed a glut of chances, in a 1-1 draw at Dawley Town last weekend.
And last Wednesday night, Hill fought back from 3-1 down to overcome visiting Brown Clee, 4-3, in a thrilling derby.
Steve Preece, Scott Jordan, James Clifford and Dave Shorter netted the goals for United. Clee Hill travel to Hanwood United Reserves this Saturday.
Church Stretton Town, who play in the Premier Division, will make the trip to Whitchurch Alport this Saturday.
