AFC Ludlow told to re-play home Mercian League Premier Division match against Morda United

AFC Ludlow have been told to re-play their Mercian League Premier Division fixture against Morda United.

Mercian League spokesman Phil Davies says the match will take place at Ludlow’s SBS Stadium.

However, Ludlow boss Dave Cooper says the club will be appealing against the decision by league bosses.

Ludlow won the original tie 3-1 - but Morda complained that Dale Hodge played for the hosts without ‘international clearance’.

Cooper said: “We had a committee meeting on Monday night and there was a unanimous decision to appeal against the decision to re-play the fixture.”

He added: “I also spoke to Ludlow’s players about it on Saturday and they don’t want to play the league fixture with Morda.

“We have beaten Morda once and my players are saying that if that match has to be re-played, they won’t be turning up.”

Cooper says Ludlow won’t be playing in the Mercian League next season.

“We are unhappy about things and we have applied to go into the West Midlands League next season,” said Cooper.

“We haven’t yet heard from the West Midlands League and, as a back-up, I will be speaking to the Herefordshire League.”

The date for the proposed league showdown between the clubs has not been set.

Last month, the Advertiser revealed that the FA had handed AFC Ludlow and Hodge suspended fines over the player’s involvement at Welsh club Newbridge-on-Wye.

Ludlow and Hodge were each been handed £50 fines, suspended for two years.
