SEAN Gough was the hat-trick hero for Church Stretton who have regained the leadership of the Mercian League Premier Division.

Gough bagged the first three goals for Stretton before Ashley Wells wrapped up their convincing triumph against 10-man Ketley.

“We have not lost in the league this year and we went down 1-0 early on at Ketley,” said Stretton joint-boss Joe Leask.

“We deserved to win - and Ketley had a player red-carded after an off-the-ball incident with Sean Gough.”

Stretton are without a match this Saturday but host fifth-placed FC Hodnet on March 23.

Stretton are top of the table but have played two more games than second-placed Morda.

Leask said: “If we can beat Hodnet at home it would be hard for them to catch us and we will be looking for a top-four finish.

“We have five league games remaining and a league cup semifinal - so it’s all to play for.”
