MANAGER Dave Cooper said his Ludlow side were ‘awful’ after they kept alive their title hopes in the Mercian League Premier Division.
Newcomer Jack Price took the plaudits for second-placed Ludlow, but Cooper felt his team were lucky to escape with a win.
“We were awful and they must be wondering how they didn’t beat us,” said Cooper.
“The better side lost 2-0.
The pitch was nice but their striker, Stuart Ellis, was a handful for us.
“Under any other circumstances we would have taken a 2-0 win away from home - but we weren’t good enough.”
Second-half substitute Nathan Hodge put Ludlow ahead and he then won a penalty which Danny Gower converted.
“Jack Price looks a very useful player and was superb but Simon Bull was lucky to stay on the pitch after a foul,” said Cooper.
Ludlow host Wellington Amateur Reserves in the league this Saturday.
Cooper has strengthened his squad with the signing of Keiron Dovey but Julian Marsh has ruled out a comeback for Ludlow.
Dovey has been playing for Pegasus Juniors Under-18.
