Stalwart Gary Edwards thrilled with Clee Hill Rugby Club's 10-6 win over Bishops Castle Rugby Club in Midlands Four West (North)

STALWART Gary Edwards was delighted after Clee Hill claimed the bragging rights in this Midlands Four West (North) derby.

Edwards said the Hillmen dominated the game and have now taken a big step towards league survival.

“The scoreline was tight but I didn’t think the game was that close,” said Edwards.

“We got an early try after sustained pressure and we dominated most of the game.

“We were very happy with the win and we played well.

“But we should have scored more points.”

Skipper Matt Bowen scored Hill’s try, while Craig Breakwell kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Jack Holloway kicked two penalties for Castle as Hill led 7-6 at the break.

Castle skipper Pete Bevan said: “I got sin-binned and our scrum-half was also sin-binned so that didn’t help us.

“It was the first time for a while that Hill have beaten us.

They are always strong at home and it was a tough game.”

Craig Breakwell was yellowcarded for Hill and, while he was off the field, Sam Jones missed a shot at goal. Edwards added: “We need to keep the momentum going. If we can win our next three games, we could even finish fourth.”

Hill have a blank weekend but local rivals Bishops Castle will travel to Harborne in a rear ranged league match this Saturday.
