EDWARD Humphries starred on home soil as Bedstone College won the Independent Schools Association Midlands Cross-Country Championships for the second successive year.
He triumphed in the boys’ under-14 Midlands section as Bedstone carried off the Midlands title in both the senior boys’ and girls’ events.
Jodie Beddows was third in the girls’ under-16 race, while Walter Meredith and Jack Crook took silver and bronze respectively in the boys’ under-18 event.
Around 400 competitors flocked to Bedstone for the annual championships.
Now, Bedstone will have 12 athletes representing the Midlands at the National Championships in March, with two travelling as reserves.
Headmaster David Gajadharsingh said: “Doing so well in two successive years simply goes to show just what strength in depth we have.
“Our scholarship programme, designed to attract the best local sports talent, is certainly paying off.”
Bedstone’s scholarship day is on Saturday (March 9).
