Clee Hill Rugby Club veteran Gary Edwards eyes up Bishops Castle derby in Midlands Four West (North)

FORMER skipper Gary Edwards says survival is on the mind of Clee Hill, who host Bishops Castle in a Midlands Four West (North) derby this Saturday.

The Hillmen picked up a try bonus point from a 49-24 defeat at high-flying Cannock last weekend.

Edwards said: “Hopefully we will have a few pack members back for the visit of Bishops Castle.

“We know that we will need to keep the ball away from their forwards. Two wins from our last few matches should be enough for us to stay in this division.”

First-half tries from Dan Romeo and Richard Fletcher and a late double from skipper Matt Bowen gave Hill their four tries. Paul Jones and Bowen kicked conversions.

Bishops Castle geared up for their trip to Hill with eight tries in a 54-0 demolition of Telford Hornets.

Justin Haycock and skipper Pete Bevan both scored two tries for Castle, while Nick Davies, Elliott Brookes, Robbie Davies and Jack Holloway also touched down. Holloway kicked four conversions and two penalties for Castle.

The return of Matt Jones boosted Cleobury Mortimer who are facing relegation from Midlands Three West (North) after a 19-10 home defeat against Edwardians.

John Hulland and Wille Bache crossed for the hosts.
