7:00am Friday 8th March 2013 in Sport By Ian Morgan
MORE than 300 boxing fans will be flocking to Ludlow tonight (Friday) for a night of glitz and glamour.
Ludlow Amateur Boxing Club’s fighters will be stepping into the ring against opponents from Wales and the West Midlands.
Debutant Tom Morris, James Key, Ter ry Dean Smith, Chadd Woodfield, Charlie Barnfield, Chris Roberts and Chris Preece are featuring on the card.
The dinner show, which includes a raf fle, takes place at Ludlow Racecourse and will include around 12 fights.
“We are expecting between 350 and 400 people,”said Ludlow chairman Colin Woodfield, who praised hard-working secretary Flo Hadley.
“There will be boxers from Ludlow and fighters from other strong clubs including Burton, Newtown, Droitwich and Coventry.”
He said tables for the meals are likely to sell-out in advance of the show but people can pay on the door.
The doors open at 6.30pm and the boxing action will get under way between 8pm and 8.30pm.
Entry on the door costs £12 per person, and Woodfield says there is still time for businesses to sponsor the bouts.
