Ludlow hammer Barkers Butts to boost hopes of beating Midlands One West drop

LUDLOW improved their prospects of beating the drop in Midlands One West with a crushing 52-7 success against Barkers Butts which moves the Linney Men out of the relegation zone.

Cleobury Mortimer position in Midlands Three West (North) looks increasingly hopeless after a 19- 10 home defeat by Edwardians.

And Tenbury’s prospects of moving up from Midlands Four West (North) suffered a major setback with a 19-16 home defeat by promotion rivals Uttoxeter dropping them down to fourth.

There was mixed fortunes for the two Shropshire teams in the division with Cannock seeing off Clee Hill 49-24 but Bishops Castle enjoying a fine 54-0 win against basement club Telford Hornets.

Ludlow and Church Stretton have move made progress in the Mercian League Premier Division Cup with Stretton beating Wellington Amateurs Reserves 3-1 and Ludlow winning 1-0 at Oakengates Athletic.
