Croft Ambrey Running Club achieve double success in Herefordshire Winter Cross-Country Series

CROFT Ambrey’s athletes achieved double success for the first time in 23 years in the last race of the Herefordshire Winter Cross-Country Series.

The club rounded off the series in spectacular fashion, winning both the men’s and women’s team races, in the woods above Presteigne.

Croft’s Sue Davies won the women’s race while team-mates Gemma Mallett, Irina Dale and Ruth Stafford all finished in the top 10.

Croft’s Simon Norwood achieved his best-ever result, fourth, in the men’s event.

Norwood crossed the line ahead of team-mates Stacey Morgan, Mark Lamonby and 17-year-old Andrew Davies, who also finished inside the top 10. Overall, Ludlow’s Claire Thomas achieved first place in the senior women’s section of the five-race winter series.

And Croft women’s team were second overall, just one point behind Wye Valley, with Croft men third and the ‘B’ team fourth.

Croft athletes Simon Norwood, Guy Whitmarsh, Andrew Davies and Sue Davies all won overall section prizes.
