Manager Dave Cooper 'very unhappy' after AFC Ludlow's 2-0 defeat at Telford Juniors in Mercian League Premier Division

MANAGER Dave Cooper said he was ‘very unhappy’ with the match officials after AFC Ludlow slipped to third in the Mercian League Premier Division.

Cooper felt key decisions went against his side as they failed to get the win which would have taken them to the top of the table.

He added that Ludlow were close to signing ex- Ledbury Town player Jack Price and were planning to apply to join the West Midlands League for next season.

Defender Adie Marsh was dismissed after 25 minutes and Cooper came off the bench for goalkeeper Ian Havard, who suffered an ankle injury but also saved a penalty.

Telford had a player redcarded late in the game.

“We were very unhappy with some of the decisions and we felt we didn’t get the rub of the green,” said Cooper, who had former Ludlow player Julian Marsh in the dug-out.

“We played most of the match with 10 men but, if you had been watching the match, it didn’t look like we were a man down,”

said Cooper.

“We hit the bar and the post and Nathan Hodge came on for the last halfan- hour and also had some chances.”

Cooper added: “I am sure we will all drop points along the way. We have some hard games coming up.”

Telford opened the scoring from an early penalty, following a foul by Simon Bull, and then added a second after the interval.

Ludlow travel to Oakengates this Saturday in the Premier Division Cup.

“It would be Morda at home in a midweek tie in the next round - and that’s a huge incentive for us to get through,” said Cooper.

“They have just gone above us in the league.”
