Woofferton Football Club's Dave 'Magnum' Thomas didn't get his champagne Leintwardine Cup final

WOOFFERTON secretary Dave ‘Magnum’ Thomas didn’t get his dream Leintwardine Cup final - but he can’t wait to face his old club, Orleton Colts.

Steve Chadd’s Woofferton recorded a 2-1 semi-final success over Tenbury Town at Palmer’s Meadow to book a final place at Leintwardine on Friday, March 28, kick-off 5pm.

Woofferton Colts crashed to a 3-2 home defeat against Orleton Colts in the other last-four tie.

Thomas said: “We’ll need to up our game if we are to beat Orleton in the final.

“Orleton will be taking a coach for players and supporters to the final - and we’ll be taking a few over.

“It’s always a good occasion at Paytoe Lane. I haven’t played in the final since winning it with Orleton in 2007.”

Goals in either half from Simon Bradley and Josh Partridge fired Woofferton into a 2-0 lead against Tenbury last Saturday.

Tenbury reduced ar rears when Jack Farrar scored directly from a corner but Woofferton comfortably held on to win.

Tenbury manager Darren Worthington said: “We probably deserved to take the tie into extra-time because we had most of the play in the second-half.

“We wish Woofferton all the best for the final and we can now concentrate on getting promoted from Division Three.”

In the other semi-final, Jabez Smith netted twice but Woofferton Colts suffered a 3-2 home defeat against Orleton.

Martin Edwards, Martin Jones and Will Caswell grabbed the goals for a triumphant Orleton at Haynall Lane.
