CAPTAIN Pete Stevens is expecting a large crowd for their promotion clash against Uttoxeter at Palmer’s Meadow this Saturday.
The captain says his secondplaced side will be at full strength for the visit of thirdplaced Uttoxeter in Midlands Four West (North).
“If we beat Uttoxeter, we will be getting close to being promoted from this division,” said Stevens.
“There should be a big crowd of 100-plus people at Palmer’s Meadow.
“We beat Uttoxeter by a point at their place earlier in the season and I think we’re the only team to have won up there.
“It’s going to be tough because they will be coming down to us and wanting revenge.”
Tenbury are two points better off than Uttoxeter but have played two more games.
Tenbury’s North Midlands Vase dreams died at Ross-on- Wye last Saturday after they suf fered a 25-17 third-round defeat. Tenbury were blown apart in the first-half - and trailed 22-3 at the break.
“We had a few players resting for this Saturday and Ross had some very good backs who caused us problems,” said Stevens.
“We kept plugging away but we ran out of time and Ross deserved to go through to the quarter-finals. I think Ross want to win the competition.”
Mark Gaubert touched down for Tenbury’s opening try and Richie Smith added the second.
Ben King kicked a penalty and two conversions.
Pete Foster will be returning to action this weekend and Will Morgan is also starting.
“Retirement is probably not far away for Will but he can still do a good job for us,” said Stevens.
“I have a bruised elbow but that shouldn’t be a problem for Saturday.”
