Skipper Aaron Morris says Tenbury Cricket Club could be without Ed Corfield in 2013 season

SKIPPER Aaron Morris says Tenbury could be without spinner Ed Corfield this summer.
Tom Pugh has stepped up to the vice-captain’s role as Tenbury prepare for their debut in Worcestershire County Cricket League Division Two.
“Ed was vice-captain last season but his wife is having another child so, at the moment, he can’t commit to cricket,” said Morris.
“I think it’s going to be a hard season for us and I am hoping we can attract new players.
“Most clubs in our division will have an overseas player or a professional and it’s going to be tough.
“A lot will depend on how we start off the season and, hopefully, we will get some confidence early-on.”
Tenbury’s indoor nets are taking place at Tenbury High School this Saturday from 1pm to 3pm.
Morris said two other of his leading players are set to miss the start of the new campaign, which kicks off in April.
“Bruce Mason is in Switzerland working and his brother Alex is at Newcastle University.
Alex will be available in the middle of June,” said Morris.
However, the skipper is taking heart from Tenbury’s promotion from Division Three.
“We don’t know what to expect in Division Two,” he said.
“We thought the teams towards the bottom of Division Three last season were very weak, so that gives us a bit of hope.
“There are some big clubs - like Colwall - in our division.”
New players should call youth development manager Jon Pearson on 07896 667945.
