Tenbury Town 3 Relentless 1

TENBURY Town warmed up for this Saturday’s Leintwardine Cup semi-final clash with a hard-fought win at Palmer’s Meadow.

Darren Worthington’s in-form side host higher-graded local rivals Woofferton and will be going all-out to reach the cup final.

A brace from Alex Bright and a stunning display from goalkeeper Steve Sumner helped Town to a 3-1 home win over Relentless last weekend.

Sumner pulled off a wonder save on the hour, instinctively throwing up a hand to tip over a point-blank header.

It was Town’s third successive win and they are pushing for a promotion place from Herefordshire League Division Three.

Town dominated the early stages, Mark Boucker and Bright both hitting the woodwork.

Bright fired Town ahead in the 44th minute and he added a second after the interval when the visiting goalkeeper flapped at a corner.

Substitute Ian Patterson wrapped up Town’s triumph, dancing around two defenders and slotting home their third goal.

Relentless had the final word from the penalty-spot after a foul by Henri Harvey-Smith.
