Tenbury United 2 Malvern Rangers 1

TENBURY United produced one of their best displays of the season in the West Midlands League Division Two.

Nicky Stocker and Gavin Podmore bagged the goals for Colin Powell’s men on a mud-bath at Palmer’s Meadow.

“We had a bare 12 but it was one of our better team performances of the season,”

said defender Aaron Morris.

“A mistake by Matt Kurkus, who under-hit a back pass, allowed Malvern to score with about 15 minutes remaining but we defended superbly.

“I am told that Malvern had won nine of their previous 10 games, so it was a great win for us.”

United travel to Team Dudley in the league this Saturday.

Morris added: “They are a young team, who are very fit and well drilled.

“But if you get stuck into them, they can be a bit intimidated.”
