Connor 'The Hammer' Huntbach crowned 'Boxer of Year' by Tenbury Amateur Boxing Club
CONNOR ‘The Hammer’ Huntbach has been hailed by Tenbury Amateur Boxing Club supremo Martin ‘Paddy’ Brennan.
Paddy has crowned Connor as the club’s best boxer over the past 12 months.
“After many weeks of debating it, I gave Connor the prestigious Tenbury Amateur Boxing Club’s Boxer of the Year award,” said Paddy.
“We’ve got some outstanding young boxers at the club – so it was a hard decision. But Connor has worked hard and been very dedicated. He fully deserves the honour.”
Connor took the plaudits after triumphing in last year’s Tenbury’s sell-out dinner show and achieving a debut victory over Great Wyrley’s Mitchell Howie.
The teenager, who lives in Grete, described his victory as ‘one of the best moments of his life’ and he also won the ‘Boxer of the Night’ award.
Connor picked up his Boxer of the Year accolade in a presentation evening thrown by the club at the Shamraj Balti House in Tenbury.
Paddy said he also handed out gold certificates to Robbie ‘The Terminator’ Gittins and Eddie ‘Boom Boom’ Kelly.
He added that ‘Gorgeous’ George Sloan and Jake ‘Raging Bull’ Ferguson were handed silver certificates, while Sam Jenner and Arnold Edmund both scooped bronze.
Meanwhile, Paddy is now running boxercise classes at Tenbury Boxing Club for women wanting to boost their fitness levels.
Boxercise uses boxing techniques to help people get fit without stepping inside the ring.
“The keep-fit classes are proving very popular,” said Paddy. “We’ve been getting around a dozen women to the sessions but there’s definitely room for more.”
For more details about the Boxercise classes, which take place on Monday and Fridays between 6pm and 7pm, e-mail Martin ‘Paddy’ Brennan on adm.tabclub @hotmail.com
