Dean Carpenter wins Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club’s men’s double roll-up stableford

DEAN Carpenter carved out the winning score in Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club’s men’s double roll-up stableford.

Carpenter shot an outstanding 38 points in difficult conditions on the second day of the competition.

Tony Willets was second after carding 37 points and Simon Eades snatched third place on a count-back. More than 30 golfers braved the bitterly cold conditions to compete in the two-day event played over Badgers Sett and Deer Park.

In-form Julie Currie and Sylvia Tudor Hughes triumphed in the 18-hole women’s section roll-up event.

The duo carded 36 points and it was another success for Curry, who is on a good run after winning last month’s Turkey Trot.

Rosemary Dempsey and Mary Job, with 33 points, were runners-up and third place went to Sue Griffiths and Marilyn Wood, with 32 points.
