Leintwardine Colts' manager Chris Shurmer rolls with Herefordshire Football League subs' issue

LEINTWARDINE Colts’ boss Chris Shurmer admits his concern has eased towards the use of rolling subs.
Before the start of this season, Shurmer feared the introduction of rolling subs would disrupt - not improve - matches in the Herefordshire Football League.
But Shurmer said: “I still don’t think it’s the best idea but I now don’t believe it’s the worst,” said Shurmer, whose side are in Herefordshire League Division Three.
Club representatives voted in favour of the move across all divisions of the Herefordshire League at their annual meeting last year.
The Herefordshire FA are also using the scheme in their cup competitions and in the Herefordshire Sunday League.
Shurmer said: “Rolling subs work well when you can give a player a breather or if a player has taken a knock - it can give them five minutes to recovery from the injury. Most teams use rolling subs towards the end of a game to give all their substitutes a run-out.”
He added: “I still think it would be better to allow a manager to use all five substitutes rather than the rolling subs method.”
