TEENAGER Tara Rodenhurst has proved that girl power is alive and well at Ludlow Golf Club.
The 14-year-old has become the first female junior captain at the Shropshire club.
Tara launched her campaign with an impressive 236-yard strike in the new captains’ drive-in from the first tee.
The new club captain, Russell Simm, new president John Cox and new ladies’ captain Margaret Harris all drove into office surrounded by a huge crowd of members.
Earlier, all of the outgoing captains and president drove out of office, following an early morning champagne reception in the clubhouse.
Former captain Ian Cade and Dave Mytton got their year off to a great start, carding 41 points to carry off the prestigious Massachusetts Cup.
The duo pipped Brian Powell and Phil Kinder on a count-back amid dry and sunny conditions in the betterball stableford competition which had a shotgun start.
