CLEOBURY Mortimer Golf Club’s Dave Pain said he was proud after his scratch stars were runners-up in the Energize Team of the Year section.
The scratch team were narrowly beaten to top spot by Telford Titans Ice Hockey Club who reached the National League Division One play-offs.
“Finishing runners-up to such a great team is a fantastic achievement,” said Cleobury Golf Club spokesman Pain.
“The whole team and captain Dean Carpenter must be thanked for all of their efforts.
“Getting recognised like this and getting acknowledgement from fellow sector professionals makes all the hard work and time worth it.”
Pain put forward the scratch team who have achieved three successive promotions as champions. “The team have never lost at home, an achievement few clubs can boast about,” he said.
The scratch team won the Droitwich Shield in 2010 and were semi-finalists in 2009 and 2011.
