Jack Severn stars in win at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club

JACK Severn carded a superb 44 points to win Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club’s ever-popular double roll-up.

The youngster is part of Cleobury’s junior academy and has just been selected for Worcestershire county. He shot a career-best gross 80 to give him a winning haul of 44 points. Jack made the most of the Saturday sunshine with a storming back-nine score of 24 points to blow away the field.

Tom Wright, who shot 40 points, was second and Bryan Colley carded 39 points to grab third spot on a count-back.

Jack said: “My aim is to get my handicap cut to 14 by the end of the year. I am now off 15.8 and with extra practice, I am sure I can do it.”

Tom Pain, Andrew Thomas, Gerry Redmond and Gordon Moriaty posted some commanding scores but missed out on the prizes.
