ALL the jobs at Burford House, near Tenbury, are safe after it was confirmed the business will be taken over.

The existing Burford House with its restaurant and garden centre is closing, but the good news is that it will re-open under new management next month.

A closing down sale to get rid of existing stock is under way to clear the decks for a new start under The Garden Store brand. It means that the jobs of the 13 people who work at Burford House have been saved.

Neil Stevens, one of the directors, said there were exciting plans for the business, including the re-launch of the restaurant, which will be known as ‘Let’s Eat at Burford House’.

“We will be taking on all of the existing staff with the new business,”

said Mr Stevens.

The new management intends to continue the business both as a garden centre and retailer of products and furniture for the home.

Burford House will join seven other garden centres throughout the Midlands in The Garden Store group.

Mr Stevens said that the group had purchased the lease and not the property itself.

The Garden Store was started in 2001 by Mr Stevens and Marcus Eyles and the new management said it was keen to make sure that each store has a happy, helpful and knowledgeable team of staff.

The company is focused on the Midlands and Home Counties. Its other garden centres can be found in Northampton, Charlecote near Warwick, Elton near Peterborough, Tamworth, Wolverhampton, High Wycombe and Daventry.
