A SHOWCASE of events has been announced as part of the Mistletoe Festival in Tenbury.

A bigger-than-ever calendar of events highlights the evocative winter harvest.

Druid rituals will take place to bless the plant, followed by the town’s traditional wholesale mistletoe auctions, lantern and santa parade, music and storytelling, Christmas lights switch-on, and the Mistletoe Ball.

The season starts with switching on the Christmas lights on November 18, followed by a film evening at Tenbury High School.

Mistletoe auctions will be held on three Tuesdays from November 29 at Tenbury Business Park.

An evening with storyteller Ben Haggarty in the Pump Rooms will set the scene on November 26. A storytelling workshop with Ben will take place the following afternoon.

National Mistletoe Day opens on December 3 with a procession through the town by the Mistletoe Foundation. The day includes a multi-faith ceremony, mistletoe and craft sales and a blessing ceremony and crowning of the Mistletoe Queen and Holly Prince.

The Santa Parade starts at 4pm on December 10.

Plans are being discussed for a Mistletoe Arts Exhibition next year, welcoming local painters, photographers and crafts.
