QUAD bikes donated by a Tenbury firm will be tested to the limit when a team of young farmers attempts to break a record with a marathon ride.
The team from Worcestershire Young Farmers, led by chairman Tom Goodwin and including Tenbury’s Kathy Yarnold, will leave John O’Groats in Scotland tomorrow (Friday).
They aim to travel to Torquay for the Young Farmers’ national convention via Land’s End to break the record for quad bikes by completing the 1,000-mile journey in eight days, raising £10,000 for charity in the process.
The bikes have been donated by No Mark Equipment of Tenbury and all proceeds will go to Acorns Children’s Hospice and Diabetes UK.
“Our route will take us over mountains, on major transport routes and through some of the busiest cities in Britain,”
said Tom.
“This challenge will really test the team to the maximum as we will be spending up to eight hours a day on bikes that are really designed to only be used off-road for short periods of time. It may sound like an easy challenge but eight solid days on quad bikes will test our team to the limit.”
