Tenbury High School complete week of enterprise challenges

STUDENTS from Tenbury High School have been trying their hand at being social entrepreneurs.

The school’s design and technology department has just completed a week of enterprise challenges.

Year 8 pupils were set challenges which ranged from designing cushions for The Old Rectory care home to making labels for the tack at a local riding school.

They also worked on designs for Tenbury’s Mistletoe Festival and this group, which designed wrapping paper to sell at the festival, were overall winners.

Year 9 students were set an Olympic-themed challenge. Groups chose a country and a sport and designed logos, stadia, dietary food and medals.

Peter Turvey, Worcestershire opportunities coordinator for the 2012 Olympics, visited the school in the afternoon to look at the work of the pupils and to help choose the winners.

They were then presented with t-shirts from the organisation.

Students in year 7 took up a pizza challenge, designing pizzas, aprons, logos, party bags and menus and then cooking.
