MEMBERS of the St Michael’s College Society have been in the village for their annual reunion.

This year, when organising the music programme for St Michael’s, John Swindells, the musical director and organist, decided to introduce an event ‘Back to Bach'.

The last master of music at the college before it closed, the organist Roger Judd and Organist Emeritus, was involved together with Tom Durston-Smith, baritone, and the church choir.

Associated with this, and to bring some colour to the weekend, a flower arrangement competition was organised by Janet Penn.

Four churches entered; St Mary’s Tenbury, St Michael’s Tenbury, St James Greete and St John the Baptist Hope Bagot.

There is an annual reunion dinner at the Fountain Inn. Many people in the locality like to support the society and this year saw the attendance of the Mayor of Tenbury Mark Willis together with Councillor Eric Hudson and Tony Penn, Malvern Hills District Councillor.

The guest speaker was Colonel Gerry Wells-Cole, OBE, RM who, as a Royal Marine, had seen many conflicts in active service.

To round off the reunion, Sunday involved a choral communion service for the patronal festival and choral evensong.

Both services were conducted by Rev John F Kennedy who was supported by the Emmanuel Church Choir from Sutton Coldfield, director: Richard Mason.

The morning service ended with the laying of a wreath on the grave of the founder, Sir Fredrick Gore Ouseley.
