KATHRYN and Clive Genders know that they have a hard act to follow but are up for the challenge.

They are running the ‘Smiling Goat’ which has taken over from The Clock House, one of Tenbury’s most iconic businesses.

It means a move from Kington where there couple have run a deli for the past 13 years.

But the ‘Smiling Goat’ is not completely new to Tenbury as the business has, in the past, taken part in the Saturday markets.

“We got a call to say that Phil was retiring and to see if we were interested and it seemed too big a chance to miss,” said Kathryn.

The business sells a range of English and continental cheeses, breads, cold meats, herbs and spices as well as tea and coffee.

Clive decided that he liked the name ‘The Smiling Goat’ and the couple have a photograph in the shop of a goat appearing to be smiling that was taken during a holiday in the Alps.
