SARAH Best from Tenbury found it a problem getting kitting out a nursery for her children so she decided to go it alone and has ended up with a thriving business.

The young mum who turned her search for the perfect nursery into a new business has now showcased her talents at the Country Living Spring Fair.

She has tapped into her tastes as a mum along with many years of experience as a graphic designer.

The decision has proved very fruitful and now she is helping other parents to kit out the nursery of their dreams.

Mrs Best, a bespoke arts and interiors company, was formed six months ago after mum and entrepreneur Sarah Best decided to develop her skills by producing a collection of personalised art prints, children’s wall graphics and baby clothing.

Since launching last Winter the 39-year-old’s business has thrived, picking up orders and accolades from across the UK – a success which saw her hand-picked along with just 30 other start-ups to exhibit at the magazine Country Living’s Spring Fair, where she won praise for her ‘stylish’ artworks.

The business idea came to Sarah, who runs the business from her rural home studio in the Teme Valley, after her daughter Tilly, now two, was born.

It was her search for the ideal nursery led to Sarah creating her own sought-after decorations and art prints.

“I found it a real challenge to find beautiful, co-ordinating pieces for Tilly’s nursery after she was born,” she said.

“So after one search too many, I took matters into my own hands and drew upon 15 years of creative experience as a graphic designer. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made as the business has gone from strength to strength.

“To get an invite to exhibit at the Country Living Spring Fair after only a short period of trading was wonderful. It was a real milestone for me and I was very grateful to get the opportunity to showcase my products and plans for the future.

“It has also given me a great idea of what’s popular and a real confidence boost to know I’m headed in the right direction with my products. I am looking forward to a busy 2016 with plans in place to introduce a new summer collection. It’s a hugely exciting time.”

The quality of Sarah Best’s design has been applauded by the magazine.

“I was shocked to hear that this was her first time in this environment, as it was one of the most professional set ups there,” said Alaina Binks, County Living’s Deputy Home Design Editor, who added that the design provided character and fitted well with the happy style of the brand.

Sarah Best honed her skills as the founder of Birmingham-based Soda Design, which provides creative marketing support for a variety of businesses across the region. Services include branding and web design.
