THE skate park in Tenbury will be resurfaced in time for the school holidays in the summer.

Mark Willis, Mayor of Tenbury, told the annual town meeting that this is just part of a plan of work for the coming year.

He said that a project to improve the Burgage and minimise the damage caused to the area has been completed.

The town council car park has also been repaired following the removal of the household recycling facility from Palmers Meadow to the new site in Bromyard Road.

This has made more than 20 additional spaces available on the Palmer’s Meadow car park.

“The opening of the new household recycling centre off Bromyard Road has meant extra car parking bays and we now have a tidier first impression of the town,” said Mark Willis.

In his annual report Mark Willis said that there were many challenges and these included tackling the serious problem of people that allowed their dogs to foul in the town and failed to clean up.

“It was clear to me that something had to be done when I went to watch a rugby game and it had to be stopped eight times to allow dog mess to be cleaned up,” he said.

“We have started our anti dog-fouling campaign,” he said.

“There has been a general improvement but there remains much more that can and will be done to improve the situation further.

“In the very near future, town council-owned cameras will be sited and evidence of irresponsible dog owners will be passed to Malvern Hills District Council to facilitate prosecution.”

The town council also has ambitious plans to improve facilities in the town but this will require major external funding.

Included in this are the replacement of the existing pavilion with a new one, improvements to the civic garden and new changing facilities for football teams using Palmer's Meadow.
