I AM frequently surprised as to how few people in Tenbury really understand just what Tenbury Council is actually responsible for and just what it actually does and could do for its residents.

We actually have our own web site which you can visit which gives plenty of information about us. On our website you will also find minutes of our meetings and agendas for forthcoming meetings which are held at the Pump Rooms.

Full Council meets on the first Monday of every month with the exception of August.

Planning and Finance & Staffing generally meet on the last Monday in the month. Facilities meet once every two months.

Anyone can attend these meetings and take the opportunity to observe just what is going on.

If you have a particular issue that you would like to present to the council then Tenbury residents have the opportunity to personally address any of the committees at the start of each meeting.

It’s important to me that everyone appreciates that councillors are elected representatives of the community. Decisions we make can have far reaching effects on our town so it’s vitally important that we know your views.

While all of our councillors live in the town or Burford we don’t profess to know about every issue of concern so you have to tell us.

Every year we have an annual town meeting. This year it’s on Monday, April 11, 7pm in the Pump Rooms.

At that meeting I’ll be presenting my report based on the preceding 12 months. All are welcome and light refreshments will be served.

You also have the opportunity to ask questions though it’s preferred that you put the question in writing to us by 12 noon on Thursday, April 7. This means that we can get all the relevant information together and avoid any duplication on the night.

Look forward to seeing you there.
