HAVING a home of their own may be a thought strictly ‘for the birds’ for young people in Tenbury but they are to get a chance to help their feathered friends put a roof over their heads in time for nesting.

Children are being invited to Burford House Garden Store to paint a wooden nest box creating a beautiful new home for birds in the area.

They can then take their creation home to hang in the garden, ready to watch the local birds it attracts.

The nest box painting event, which coincides with National Nest Box Week, aims to encourage local children to help wild birds flourish in their gardens and will run through half term from Monday, February 15 – to Friday, February 19 between 11am-1pm.

“It can be very tricky keeping the kids entertained over half term, so this fun activity is an ideal way to keep the whole family entertained,” said Paul Benson, manager of Burford House Garden Store.

“This helps raise awareness of National Nest Box Week and the importance of looking after the birds through the seasons as well as giving children an enjoyable craft project to take home.”

The event costs £5 per child and includes all materials needed. Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance, online at www.gardenstoreonline.co.uk or in-store.
