A 43-year-old driver has been warned he is facing jail after he pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving in a crash on a Worcestershire road.

Jason Evans, of Kyreside, Tenbury Wells, also pleaded guilty to drink-driving in the same incident on the A456 in Ribbesford, near Bewdley, on November 30, 2014.

Worcester Crown Court heard the crash caused serious injury to Vanessa Priest. She was trapped in her car for an hour and a half and had to be cut free following the accident at 6pm. She was treated for leg, pelvic and spinal injuries and taken to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

A pre sentence report was ordered and Evans was granted unconditional bail.

Recorder Richard Atkins, QC, warned him that the judge would be likely to consider a jail term when he returns to court for sentencing on November 20.

He was banned from driving with immediate effect.
