TENBURY High School is buzzing.

The Tenbury High School Ormiston academy is not only enjoying the buzz that comes from very good GCSE results and its own hive of bees.

It has also had two new mini buses join its fleet to enable it to extend the range from which it can collect students wanting to attend the school.

How many schools are there with their own bee hives and home produced honey as well as impressive pupil achievement,” said Adrian Price, the principal at Tenbury High.

“We are extremely proud that this year, many of our 2013 leavers will be embarking on courses at Cambridge University and other prestigious universities. Our growing reputation for excellence led to a request for the academy to feature as a case study in the new Parliamentary Review.

"It isn’t all about the results though. We are really happy that our curriculum develops those skills necessary for young adults to participate fully in a modern global society.

“Every summer there is a traditional Year 9 summer camp, more than half of our Year 11 pupils regularly take part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, there are two exchange programmes to France and Germany, skiing and, of course, a plethora of mistletoe activities place the school at the heart of the community.

“With the opening of our new £2 million English and maths block, lecture theatre and superb sports facilities we have a 21st century learning environment.

“No surprise that parents have asked us to provide extra bus routes and, from this academic year onwards we are running two extra services.”
