ANYONE held up behind a tractor making its way to Tenbury on Sunday (September 13) knows who to blame.

But the knowledge that it is in a good cause that could one day save their lives ought to be some consolation.

Crossing the district in a 53-year-old vintage tractor has pulled in thousands of pounds for the Midlands Air Ambulance.

Barbara Williams, Chairman of Malvern Hills District Council, completed the 44 mile journey on Sunday (13 September) as part of the fund-raising event for one of her two chosen charities.

Jack Hegarty, Chief Executive of Malvern Hills District Council, Cllr Ian Hopwood, Chairman of Worcestershire County Council, and Cllr Bronwen Behan set Cllr Williams on her way from The Hunters Inn in Buckbury.

The 64-year-old then spent the next five and a half hours travelling the district on her red 1962 Massey Ferguson 35 tractor, stopping off at various points along the way to collect money for the cause.

It ended at The Fountain Inn in St Michael’s where council leader Phil Grove was there to wave the chequered flag supported by other councillors and Mayor of Tenbury Cllr Mark Willis.

On the day £800 was collected thanks to generous donations from the public and with more than £1,000 already donated online and more money still to come in, Cllr Williams is confident of reaching her £3,000 fundraising target.
